Field Day

Thursday, July 17, 2008
8:30 a.m. Registration
9:00 a.m. Program, 11:30 a.m. Lunch
John Seaton Anderson Turfgrass Research Facility, ARDC
Mead, NE

Sponsored in part by:
UNL Department of Agronomy and Horticulture
Nebraska Turfgrass Association

The agenda will include the latest research on strategies to control nutsedge, the best blues and ryes for Nebraska, new application equipment for lawncare, the latest data from the NGCSA sponsored organic matter research project, low maintenance turf alternatives (this is an eight state regional project that UNL is involved in, looking at non-traditional species for turf in the region), and a stop featuring UNL’s own favorite low maintenance species, buffalograss. The advances and improvements in buffalograss are impressive and sure to be of interest as we address water & resource conservation issues. The UNL mobile diagnostic facility will also be featured. This is a unique, self-contained mobile trailer equipped with advanced diagnostics tools to assist in making the right decision for pest management strategies. The fee normally charged for diagnostics samples will be waived for any samples brought in for diagnosis. The field day this year will be a fast paced, hit-it-and-go-get-it event with lots of great practical information and cutting edge research. Cost is $25 per person with registration notification prior to July 11 and $30 after July 11 or on-site. The fee includes coffee and rolls, lunch & handouts (and don’t forget the priceless opportunity to interact with faculty and staff at UNL and network with colleagues!). To register, please call or email Brenda Gibson at 402-472-1547 or bgibson2@unl.edu indicating the number that will be attending and how you will remit payment. Any questions email Roch Gaussoin at rgaussoin1@unl.edu.
